Darken the Skies

(originally published in The Reflector)

I can see right through you––
it’s the same as looking out my bedroom window.

Always obvious when it rains, but it looks better on a sunny day.

You come crying out for help, when the water gets too deep.

Lightning strikes,
clouds of
grey cover the sky.
Sounds of thunder crashing all around.
You come in like the night
and darken the skies.

The rain comes down and I don’t know why it hurts.

Rain comes down and I don’t knowwhy it hurts so bad.

In a moment I turn around, darkness is all that surrounds.
The sun’s tries to shine, but its fire hides behind the clouds.

You come crying out for help, when the water gets too deep.

Lightning strikes,
clouds of
grey cover the sky.
Sounds of thunder crashing all around.
You come in like the night
and darken the skies.

Don’t know
why the rain comes down.

Why the rain comes down.
